Project #1

Edo Period (but doubtless i'll be corrected)
Zunari kabuto

Condition:-
Urushi
Original I think,

style
Came as is, so no background,

Type of shikoro
Absolutely no clue as to the type of shikoro that it may have had, but it looks like it has been mounted at some time or other

 Task
Restore urushi to it's original shine & add a suitable shikoro

Fudo ,What would be the best way to polish the urushi or would it better to redo the whole thing?

Thank you Hitori , I could never be sure myself as kabuto is a grey area for me  but that's changing by the day.
I also think it is fine the way it is. but as this is a restoration section don't we need to see things actually being restored ? and this just seemed to be a good project to start with.

except you don't know what your doing, without training you will f*** it up forever. Wait till I'm free later this year and I'll guide you. I've been restoring for over 10 years and paid a lot of money for Japanese teachers to train me.

Fudo , I think we have crossed wires, !!!

It goes without saying that I don't have a clue as too where to start. This is why I am putting myself in your capable hands and waiting as instructed in an earlier post.

The idea being that under your guidance as to the correct way to do things, I take step by step pics then post them that way we can all learn.

I would not dare go near it without expert advice, your kind offer of assistance is far more than I expected and I am indeed very grateful.

The last thing I wish to do is offend .

Kind Regards

Kojiro
