Hi all! I'm a new entry of this interesting forum.

Could someone help me with a little inquiry about those smithers? Some time ago I found a kabuto signed "Mito-ju Myochin-ki Yoshinaga saku" (水府住明珎紀義長作) but, at present, I cannot find any information about this late Edo Period smither. Has someone some informations about him?

Thanks in advance!

The Chappelear book lists Myochin Yoshinaga as a Jo I smith who worked for a branch of the Tokugawa clan in Mito.

I promise that as soon as I'll get my photocamera to work, I'll do it.
Meanwhile, can someone give me more detailed informations about this smith? I would like to know, if available, the year in which he born and the year in which he died... but also from which year to which year he worked in Mito region. The mon on it seems to belong to Maeda Clan although he apparently worked only for Tokugawa Clan.

Thank you again for your precious help, and stay tuned for the pictures!

Hello HeiXin,

Myochin Yoshinaga, Jo I, Hitachi, Late Edo

Signature "Mito Ju Yoshinaga"

Like kawari1 mentioned before, listed by Chappelear "Japanese Armor Makers for the Samurai" page 140.
But bear in mind, they faked their family tree

Regards
Uwe
